Fellowship with God
God is faithful, by whom you were called into the fellowship of His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.
1 Corinthians 1:9

Underline this verse. It is a key verse. Notice, it is not you who are faithful, it is God.
He is the one who gives you the privilege of being in the fellowship with Christ and other believers. God is the one, not you. It is a privilege because God is faithful.
Imagine the importance of this one verse, the fellowship given to us. I think many times, as believers, we take the fellowship for granted. We do not value it for the incredible gift from God it really is, and we break fellowship.

How do we break fellowship? Sin breaks fellowship with God. How many times have you said, "I am not hurting anyone else with my actions," when you are sinning? You are hurting someone else— a really important someone else. You are hurting God in your sin.

You have broken fellowship with Him.

We can see clearly, God is always faithful to us. He calls us into fellowship and desires a personal relationship with each of us, individually. We are not so faithful. We are self-centered and we break fellowship, because we allow other things to be more important in our lives than God.

Think about it. In the entire universe, God desires fellowship with us! He calls us into fellowship with one another. Isn't that more important than any sin?

Fellowship with Christians is for the sake
of fellowship with God.
